You can read some of my published articles here.
I am currently finishing off the social history book about the Miners’
Picnic – imaginatively entitled, ‘The Miners’ Picnic’. Sub-heading,
‘Wor day’,
‘wor’ being ‘our’ in Geordie. Not exactly destined for global appeal
but it’s
the first and so far only book entirely about this unique Northumbrian
event
which dates back to the 1800s. There will be a website
www.minerspicnic.com which is currently under
construction.
‘In
Sickness and in Health’ is the true story of our most unfortunate
wedding and is near completion. It has been described by Ann Gawthorpe
and
Lesley Bown, comedy script writers and authors of ‘Teach Yourself
Writing a
Play’ and 'Teach Yourself Writing for Magazines’, as ‘older women’s
chick-lit’
and ‘humour in the style of Kathy Lette’. If I’d been writing
a
Carry On script I couldn’t have made it up. You can read
extracts from the book here. And as for
the most unusual wedding album ever –
our photographers happened to capture some of the drama and posted it
on their
blog….see here. It
can take a while for their photos to load.
