As I ease towards retirement – from the day job at least, not the writing – I still derive a great deal of excitement and pleasure from new pieces of work.
Had an enjoyable day yesterday – I was asked to judge the Chartered Manager of the Year Awards at the CMI Awards of Excellence 2024 with the @CharteredManagementInstitute. The awards celebrate outstanding achievements of learners, training providers, and managers and leaders. I was looking for application of CMI values and standards backed up by specific examples of good practice and impact.
I must admit that as a writer, I was frustrated reading some of the applications. They had gone for brevity when in each section they could have used up to 500 words and given specific examples to support their claims. However overall, it was humbling to see so many outstanding achievements in management and leadership in a wide range of industries.
